Electricals drop-off points in council buildings and schools
South Ribble Borough Council created staffed drop-off points for small electricals in council buildings and temporary collection sites in 40 primary schools.
Residents could recycle items without booking, while staff monitored itrems being deposited and helped explain what could be accepted. Schools also shared information with families to encourage take-up. Electricals were collected weekly and sent for recycling.
The pilot collected 1.5 tonnes of electricals over 12 months and helped embed small electrical recycling into everyday community spaces.
