Refurbishing devices for digital inclusion
Material Focus worked with Nottingham City Council, Reconome and Framework to collect unwanted tech for reuse and digital inclusion.
Six donation points were set up across Nottingham, where residents could safely donate laptops, tablets, smartphones and chargers. Secure collection boxes and trained staff helped reassure donors about data security and encouraged people to use the service.
Of 139 devices collected, 24 were refurbished and then donated through Framework, helping more residents access digital technology while reducing waste. Unusable items were recycled.
