Boosting recycling at the kerbside and for flats
Joint Waste Solutions (JWS) boosted kerbside electricals recycling by fitting secure lock boxes and HypnoCat branding to 15 collection vehicles across Surrey.
The pilot also trialled two collection systems for flats: permanent pink bins in Woking and rotating bins at communal properties in other areas.
Online advertising and vehicle banners helped raise awareness of the service.
The pilot collected 336 kg of electricals from communal properties over 18 months and provided valuable data on how to improve recycling access for residents living in flats.
